The Korean original is published at demian-studio-policy.pages.dev/yakchaenggyeo/privacy. The effective date and last updated date shown in section 12 are the same as those of the Korean original.
This English translation is provided for convenience. If there is any inconsistency between this translation and the Korean original, the Korean original prevails.
1. General
“약챙겨” (HandyMeds: Medication Reminder, hereinafter “the App”) is a medication management and reminder assistance app that helps users manage their own medication and take it on time. DEMIAN STUDIO, the business operating the App (“we”), treats users' personal information as important, and this policy explains what information the App stores and processes on the device and how it is processed.

The App has no account sign-up, shows no ads, and does not transmit users' medication or health information to our servers. All medication and health information is stored only inside the user's phone. However, the App communicates with the Google Play billing system in order to process premium subscription payments (see “Subscription and payment” below).
2. Key principles (summary)
- No account — no sign-up or login is required.
- No ads — the App does not display ads, and does not use any external program (SDK) for showing ads or for ad tracking.
- No external transmission of medication or health information — the App does not transmit or store users' medication, dose, or health information to us or to any external server.
- Limited scope of internet use — the internet is used only to process premium subscription payments (Google Play), and is not used to transmit medication or health information.
- Local storage first — all information is stored only inside the user's phone (the app's dedicated storage area).
- No external tracking or analytics — the App does not use external tools for analytics, advertising, or crash collection.
3. Information collected and stored
The App stores the information below inside the user's phone only when the user enters or selects it directly. We do not collect or transmit this information to any external server.
3.1 Medication management information
- Medicine name
- Dosage form (tablet, capsule, powder, liquid, and so on)
- Dosing time of day (right after waking, on an empty stomach, morning, midday, evening, before bed, and so on)
- Amount per dose
- Reminder times
- Reminder-related settings, such as whether reminders are enabled
- Records of doses completed (taken)
- Records of doses not taken this time (skipped)
- Remaining quantity of a medicine
- Low-stock threshold (the App reports low stock at or below this value)
3.2 Contact-for-help information (optional)
- Name of the contact for help
- Phone number of the contact for help
- Photo avatar of the contact for help (one image chosen by the user)
3.3 App settings
- Reminder sound setting (the type of reminder sound, or the reminder sound URI)
- Text size setting
3.4 Scope of photo features (clarification)
- The photo feature provided by the App is limited to the “photo avatar of the contact for help”.
- Taking or uploading photos of medicines, recognizing medicines from photos (OCR), and AI medicine identification are not included in the scope of this release.
- The contact photo avatar is one image the user selects with the phone's photo picker; it is stored in reduced size in the app's internal storage area, and no face recognition or analysis is performed on it.
4. Where information is stored, and transmission
- All of the information above is stored only inside the user's phone (the app's dedicated database, the app's dedicated settings storage area, and photo files stored inside the app).
- The App does not transmit or store this information to us or to any external server. Internet communication is used only to process premium subscription payments (the Google Play billing system).
- We do not transmit users' personal information to a server, and do not sell or share it with third parties. However, if the user chooses the “place a call” function, the phone number of the contact for help may be passed to, and shown in, the phone app installed on the user's device. This is not a transmission to our servers; it is an on-device action the user chose in order to place the call themselves (see section 5 for details).
5. Contact for help, and how calls are connected
- The contact for help (name, phone number, photo avatar) is an optional feature that the user registers, edits, and deletes directly. Medication management and reminder features work normally even if no contact is registered.
- When a call needs to be connected, the App works by opening the phone's dialer app together with the phone number. The App does not place a call automatically; whether a call actually takes place, and when it starts, is decided by the user directly in the phone app.
- The App has no automatic calling, no automatic emergency calling (including South Korea's 119 emergency number), no automatic family calling, and no automatic emergency detection.
6. Backup policy (excluded from off-device backup)
The information the App stores on the phone is excluded from all of Android's automatic backup (full-backup), cloud backup (cloud-backup), and device transfer (device-transfer). This information is therefore not backed up or transmitted outside the user's phone (to the cloud or to a new device).
Items excluded from backup:
- Medication management database (medicines, dosing schedule, dose records, stock)
- Temporary storage files of that database (WAL/SHM)
- Contact-for-help settings (name, phone number)
- Contact-for-help photo avatar file
- Reminder sound setting
- Text size setting
7. Retention period and how to delete
- Deletion by the user: users can directly edit and delete medicine information, dose records, stock information, contact-for-help settings, and app settings inside the App.
- When the App is deleted: deleting the App removes all of the App's information stored inside the phone from the device.
- No account or server data: because the App has no account and stores no information on an external server, no separate procedure for requesting deletion of server data is needed.
8. Nature of health and medication information, and medical notice
- The medication and health-related information referred to in this policy is medication management information that the user enters directly or that is recorded inside the phone in the course of using the App; it is not diagnostic, prescription, or medical judgment information.
- The App is an assistive tool that helps with medication management and reminders, and does not do the following.

- It does not prescribe medicine.
- It does not recommend an amount per dose.
- It does not assess drug interactions or provide interaction warnings.
- It does not assess or recommend the effectiveness of supplements.

- The App is not a medical device and is not a substitute for medical care.
- If you have questions about taking medicine or about your health, please be sure to check with a professional such as a doctor or pharmacist.
- The App also guides users, on its main screens, to check medication and health matters with a professional such as a doctor or pharmacist.
9. App permissions
The App uses the permissions below. It does not use the read-contacts permission or the call permission.
- Show notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)

READ_CONTACTS) or call (CALL_PHONE) permissions. The internet, network, and in-app billing permissions are used only for the purpose of processing subscription payments, and do not transmit users' medication or health information externally.Subscription and payment
Payment for the premium subscription (₩2,900 per month / ₩29,000 per year, with a 14-day free trial) is processed through the Google Play billing system. Payment method information such as card numbers is handled by Google and is not collected or stored by us. The App processes, through Google Play, only the information needed to check subscription status (whether the user has premium), and this information is not combined with the user's medication or health information.
